The 2016 Down East Walk to Defeat ALS will be held on Saturday, April 30, at East Carolina University , at ECU Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, Murphy Center (Gate 5). Registration begins at 9:00, opening ceremony at 9:45, and the 3K walk to follow at 10:00 a.m. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative muscular disease that affects as many as 15- to 20,000 people in the U.S. at any one given time. There is no known cause or cure for ALS. Proceeds from the walk will be used to support ALS research and for patient services programs throughout the state of North Carolina. Corporate sponsors and Walk teams are welcome to participate.
